Like many great American innovations, the idea for QSL Naturals was born at a kitchen table, a place where hopes and dreams share space with dinner plates and family conversations.

As a teenager growing up in Brooklyn and the daughter of a hairstylist, Sophia spent plenty of time thinking about hair and fashion (it was everything). And when it came to what she put on her skin and naturally curly hair -- the oils, the creams, the treatments -- she was all about doing it herself. So she set about mixing, testing and trying new combinations of popular ingredients, getting her friends and neighbors hooked on her creations.

But it wasn’t until later in life, after a successful corporate career and a scary battle with breast cancer, that she heard the call to create once again. Her dream grew into a desire to change the beauty industry for good: to create gentle, natural products for curly hair and to empower women, men and children to embrace their natural hair and glowing skin. She decided to go all-in and create a new line of shampoos, conditioners, creams and body butters -- not just for her friends and neighbors, but for the world.
